About the Episode

Episode 1.02--"Credit Where Credit's Due" Original Airdate: 09/28/2004

McCormack again, the PD--he seems to be our biggest contributor.
And that pretty much says everything you need to know about the state of The Mars’ Bank Account.
Public Defenders have a budget that can’t even Super size meal #2, so how much can they pay a couple of private dicks?
But at least he keeps coming back for more.
This time, Cliffy was defending my good friend Weevil who had just confessed to a crime he didn’t do, just to save his Grandma.
I found that it was really his cousin Chardo who stole the credit cards, ran them up to tease and please Little Miss 09er herself, Caitlin Ford, and then let Weevil take the bum rap.
Once I filled Grandma Navarro in on the truth, she went to the cops, Weevil got out of jail, found his cousin and, let’s just say, Mister Chardo Navarro won’t be seeing this side of Southern California for a long time.
Good ol’ Veronica Mars, I save criminals from jail so they can beat their cousins senseless.
But, as I’ve learned the hard way, if you really, truly believe in the truth, then you have to be prepared for the consequences.
Which is why most people are so scared of the truth that they’ll tell little white lies over and over until they become those huge, hulking beasts that destroy your very existence.
Oh, and “Bum Rap” would be a cool Hip Hop band name.

Veronica and Wallace don't believe the evidence adds up against Weevil, who has been arrested for stealing credit card applications from Logan's family, and launch an investigation to help their new ally.
Meanwhile, after joining Ms. Mallory Dent's (Sydney Tamiia Poitier) newspaper class, Veronica clashes with socialite Caitlin Ford, Logan's bombshell new girlfriend, but is intrigued by the attention shown to her by another wealthy student Troy Vandegraff, a friend of ex-boyfriend Duncan.
Later, Veronica learns that Lilly got a ticket driving her car on the day she died -- two hours after her supposed time of death.
